Westpac Bank Statement to CSV/Excel — QuickBooks & Xero Import
Westpac gives users several document paths in Online Banking: statement PDFs, transaction exports, and transactions reports. Those files solve different problems. Exact Statement is aimed at the PDF statement workflow when you need statement-period data cleaned into CSV or Excel for accounting.
Files are validated locally, split into chunks, then uploaded directly to secure storage.
Official Westpac paths: Exports and reports for CSV, QBO, QIF, or OFX · transactions reports for 30, 90, or 120 days or custom ranges up to 12 months · activity since last statement on eligible accounts
How We Handle Westpac Statement PDFs
Westpac's own help content shows why this page should not be generic: transaction exports, transactions reports, and statement PDFs are related, but they are not interchangeable.
Westpac already offers several export formats
In Online Banking, Westpac lets users export CSV, QBO, QIF, and OFX files from Overview > Exports and reports. That is useful, but it is a transaction-export workflow rather than a statement-PDF workflow.
Transactions reports are near real-time, not monthly statements
Westpac says a transactions report can cover 30, 90, or 120 days, a custom range up to 12 months, or on eligible accounts activity since the last statement. That makes the report handy for checks, but it is still a different document type from the statement PDF.
Westpac reports include bank-issued document context
Westpac's proof-of-balance and transactions reports include name, address, account number, current balance, current date, and PDF formatting on Westpac letterhead. That means exported documents can contain extra context around the transaction table that manual copy-paste often drags into the CSV.
Statement-period logic still matters
Eligible Westpac accounts can show activity since the last statement, which is a good reminder that statement boundaries are a real workflow concept. For month-end bookkeeping, preserving that period is often more important than grabbing a generic export.
Different document paths create different cleanup needs
A Westpac file might come from a statement PDF, a transactions report, or an accounting export. Exact Statement focuses on turning the PDF path into consistent rows with dates, descriptions, signed amounts, and balances when the table is readable.
QBO & Xero column mapping
After extraction, the final output is mapped into QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Excel-friendly columns so the cleaned file is easier to import than the original Westpac document.
Westpac Bank Statement to CSV — Frequently Asked Questions
Westpac has a few document paths. For exported transaction history in Online Banking, Westpac says to go to Overview > Exports and reports, then choose Export CSV, QBO, QIF, or OFX. For bank-issued PDF-style reports, Westpac also offers Proof of balance and transactions from Overview > Proof of balance and transactions.
Yes. Westpac explicitly offers CSV, QBO, QIF, and OFX exports in Online Banking. It also offers transactions reports for 30, 90, or 120 days, custom ranges up to 12 months, and for eligible accounts activity since the last statement. Those exports are useful, but they are not always the same as working from the exact statement PDF.
Exact Statement works best on Westpac PDF statements and similar bank-issued reports where transactions appear in rows with dates, descriptions, amounts, and balances. If the file is already a clean QBO or OFX export from Westpac, you may not need PDF conversion at all.
We reconstruct the transaction table, separate dates from descriptive text, normalize debit and credit signs, remove repeated page furniture, and shape the final rows into QBO, Xero, or Excel-friendly columns. That is most useful when the source file is a Westpac PDF statement or report instead of a ready-made export.
Yes. Westpac customers often collect several monthly statements or reports at once for reconciliation or tax work. Upload each PDF in one batch and review each export separately.
Unlock the PDF with the password provided by Westpac before uploading it. Exact Statement does not remove bank PDF passwords for you.
