Chase Bank Statement to CSV/Excel — QuickBooks & Xero Import

Chase keeps statements inside Statements & documents, but QuickBooks and Xero still need clean CSV columns. Exact Statement converts Chase checking, savings, and card PDFs into import-ready CSV or Excel without manual copy-paste.

Where To Download Chase Statements

Chase's own paperless help page gives a concrete path on both web and mobile. Use the statement PDF when you need a full monthly record instead of a recent-activity export.

1

On chase.com

Sign in, open the Main Menu, then choose Statements & documents. Pick the account and year, then use Open or Save on the statement row.

2

In the Chase app

Open Profile & Settings, then Statements & documents inside Document manager. Choose Statements, then the account, year, and PDF.

3

Know the retention window

Chase says you can securely access up to 7 years of statements depending on the account type. That matters when you plan backfills.

4

Use the PDF for imports

Recent transaction exports are useful for quick analysis, but the monthly PDF is the safer source when you need the exact statement period and consistent reconciliation totals.

What Usually Matters In A Chase Statement

Chase is one of the stronger pages to target because the download path is clear, but the actual import pain is still in the PDF layout.

Bank and card layouts differ

Deposit-account statements and card statements do not use the same row structure. Card PDFs usually introduce purchase/posting timing and extra reference text.

Check and reference data can be useful

Checking statements often carry check numbers or ACH references that bookkeepers still want in Excel or memo fields after import.

Multi-page furniture breaks raw copy-paste

Headers, footers, summary lines, and continuation rows appear in the same visual area as transactions, which is why manual extraction gets messy fast.

Signed amounts must be normalized

QuickBooks and Xero expect clean inflow/outflow logic. A copied Chase table often needs debit/credit cleanup before import.

QBO and Xero do not want Chase-native columns

Even if you export data yourself, Chase-native descriptions, dates, and memo fields still need remapping into the target accounting format.

Locked PDFs must be opened first

If Chase or your mail workflow gives you a protected PDF, unlock it before uploading. Exact Statement does not remove the bank password for you.

Common Chase Import Pitfalls

Most Chase import errors come from structure, not from missing data. This is the cleanup work you want to avoid doing by hand.

Purchase date vs posting date

Card statements can contain two dates that look plausible. Using the wrong one shifts reconciliation windows and month-end cutoffs.

Header rows inside the transaction table

Monthly PDFs repeat labels and summaries across pages. If those rows survive export, QBO imports break or balances drift.

Descriptions are too noisy for direct upload

ACH, card, and merchant descriptors can bundle references into one cell. The CSV still needs stable Date / Description / Amount columns.

Chase export is not the same as accounting export

A bank-native PDF or CSV is not yet a QuickBooks or Xero template. The final file still has to match the target schema.

Preview The Chase Output Before Import

Switch between QBO 3-column, QBO 4-column, Xero, and XLSX preview modes. The sample rows mirror common Chase statement fields such as check references and ACH descriptors.

How Chase Fields Map Into Accounting Imports

The job is not just to “extract text.” It is to turn Chase-native rows into the columns QuickBooks and Xero will actually accept.

Using raw Chase rows without normalizing date choice, signed amounts, and repeated page furniture. Card statements are especially easy to mis-map if purchase and posting timing both appear.

Yes. When those references are present in the PDF, we keep them in the structured output so they remain available in XLSX review files and in Xero reference fields where relevant.
