Wise Statement to CSV/Excel — QuickBooks & Xero Import

Wise already offers CSV exports and Xero sync for some workflows. Exact Statement is most useful when you need older history, PDF statements, or one normalized file across multiple currencies and destinations.

How Wise Statement Access Actually Works

Wise is not a classic monthly-bank-statement story. The important detail is where sync stops and manual statement uploads start.

1

If Xero is connected, start there first

Wise says bank-feed sync to Xero runs automatically every 4 hours after the connection is enabled.

2

Older than the connection date

Wise lets you choose an earlier start date in Bank feed activity, up to one year back from the connection flow.

3

Older than one year means manual statements

For older history, Wise tells you to download a statement in PDF or CSV format for every currency you have activated.

4

Think per currency, not one bank feed file

Wise account history is often split by currency wallet. That affects both the download workflow and the import logic afterward.

What Makes Wise Statements Different

Wise statements are multi-currency workflow documents. The main risks are choosing the wrong source, missing wallets, and handling fees or FX rows incorrectly.

Statements are currency-specific

Wise explicitly tells users to download a statement for every activated currency when they need manual uploads for older history.

Bank-feed sync and manual upload coexist

If you are already connected to Xero, some periods sync automatically while older windows still require statement downloads and manual import.

Fees and FX details need cleanup

Transfers, conversions, and fees can show as related but distinct lines. That matters when the destination system only wants one signed amount column.

Descriptions mix platform and counterparty text

Wise rows often include transfer refs, recipient names, and platform wording in one description cell, which needs payee cleanup.

QBO and Xero expect different final shapes

Even if Wise gives you CSV, the final import file still has to match the target platform's required columns and sign logic.

Locked PDFs must be unlocked first

If your downloaded Wise file is password-protected, unlock it before upload. Exact Statement does not remove statement passwords for you.

Common Wise Import Pitfalls

Wise is easy to underestimate because it already exports data. The real work is in choosing the correct source and shaping it correctly for the accounting target.

One wallet, one statement file

If you pull only one currency file, you may think the export is incomplete when the missing transactions actually live in another currency statement.

Older history falls outside live sync

Wise says older than one year requires manual statement upload. That is exactly where a cleaned PDF-to-CSV workflow becomes useful.

Transfer fees can become separate rows

If you import without checking the sign and fee rows, the totals can drift from the official statement period.

Wise CSV still needs QBO or Xero remapping

A Wise CSV can be perfectly valid for Wise and still need destination-specific columns, signs, and references before import.

How Wise Fields Map Into Import Files

The hard part with Wise is rarely “can I get data out?” It is “did I choose the right source and normalize it correctly?”
